Coping with the Cold

It's been obnoxiously, brutally cold1 here the past few days.

David and I shut off the heater when we leave for work, to save money on the gas bill. Liam the kittycat stays home all day and gets into trouble, usually of the "knocking stuff off of shelves and rummaging around on the counter looking for shiny balls of aluminum foil to play with" variety.

I think even he's been feeling a bit chilly lately, though. When I got home from work yesterday and logged on to WoW, Liam went to sleep next to me under the covers, with his nose buried beneath a pillow:

Poor li'l guy.

1 "Obnoxiously cold" meaning "in the 30s and 40s." Yeah, I'm a Florida boy. Shut up.

CUTE! I love it when my kitty crawls under the covers.

So cute. When I lost heat in the apartment, both cats got under the covers with me for the night. It was adorable (and helpful, since they turned into two tiny space heaters).

awwwwww! Our heater was out for a few days and we were so worried about my kitty getting cold. We tried to cover her up under blankets, but she wasn't such a big fan...

ps: anything above 70 is too warm for me. It's 30s here right now and I'm loving every second of it. :P

Awwww.. Kitten snuggles. Mine likes to try to sleep on my head some nights, but she's a hefty girl - so it doesn't work so much with the breathing.

it's probably good you don't leave your computer on. Or you'd find kitten hair in scary places. ^_^

I suppose you'll never want to visit me. It's 27 right now and it's gonna get down to 16F tonight.

My cat does get under the covers with me frequently.

Aw. One of my cats loves to sleep under the covers with her head on the pillow. It's ridiculously cute.

We got a heating pad for our kitties, actually - it responds to weight, so it maintains just a little heat when they're not on it, but when they lie on it, it heats up to keep them warm. They *love* it, and I don't worry about the couch catching on fire. If the cold keeps up, you might consider that for Liam. You could use a hot water bottle, too, but I don't recommend it unless you like wet furniture. Mmm, claws.

One of the few things I like about living in New Orleans is that it never really gets below 30/40, and even that's a bit rare. Of course, the summers are murderous.

Anyway, I guess the cold you're dealing with is what I have to look forward to when I visit Atlanta for Christmas with the girlfriend.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww. *melts from the cute* Liam is, quite possibly, the most adorable cat I know.

30/40 is obnoxiously cold. It's about 50 here right now, and I don't want to spend too long outside.

First off ADORABLE photo (melts from the cute radiation)! Second of all, I'm from Nova Scotia, now live in California... and I can agree that 30's and 40s are very uncomfortable. I've grown accustom to the warmer temperatures.

31504 does bring a good suggestion on those pet warming pads. :)
