Necro, Alcor, other proper nouns as needed

Tomorrow is the first day of Necronomicon, which means I'll be out of the loop for a while, and probably post lots and lots of pictures come Monday or Tuesday. (Those of you with dialup access, be warned...you have three days to get broadband!) Alas, we'll be missing the traditional post-Necro sushi run, as we've pledged to help our roommate move.

Finished all the Alcor insurance paperwork and mailed it off yesterday; I plan to finish the preliminary Alcor documents and mail them off today. Still on track to have my Alcor bracelet by year's end!

AOL has begun intermittently filtering LJ notifications as "spam," despite the fact that LiveJournal is supposedly whitelisted. Not all of 'em, mind; only a couple here and a couple there. If I don't respond to something someone posts, that's why.

There's a flurry going around that George Dubya, the man legendary for (among other things) his complete incompetence when speaking in public, may be doing as well as he is in the debates because he's wearing a wireless headset that connects him to an off-stage coach. Which is, to be perfectly blunt, entirely plausible. However, one of the people on a newsgroup I read proposed an alternate explanation for the buldge on Dubya's back: "Maybe it's a bra strap."

Nxt weekend: Tampa Fetish Party. Following weekend: FantasyFest in Key West. Weekend after that: Collapse into an exhausted coma and die.

i still favor the theory that he's secretly a robot.

and then in the second debate, in answer to how he'd avoid instituting a draft, he pledged to field a robot army! so i figure this theory is as good as confirmed.

A robot army? Seriously? Damn, I should've watched the debate. Maybe that post-Apocalyptic Eden nightmare world is closer than I realized...

well, he didn't really showcase it. but he nattered on for a while about the great job that armed unmanned drones have been doing in afghanistan and said he would build a lot more of them. and it was his only substantive answer to the question. so...

Things like that are a (small) part of why I used to be a Republican. The fact that it's not unreasonable to fear that they'll decide that because robots aren't actually human soldiers they're not bound by posse comitatus and then start using them to monitor/terminate civilians that they deem suspicious is part of why I no longer am.

By the way, I do wish people would stop spreading rumors that Bush is a robot. That creates an undeserved bias against the assimilation of robots into everyday life.

The will of The Machine be done.

The sooner we all learn to obey our robot overloards, the sooner I can begin my reign the sooner we will all be able to enter a new Eden of peace and prosperity for all mankind.

If you go without me I shall pout mightily.

It's going on in Key West all next week. The plan as it stands right now is that Shelly and I are riding with our former roommate Eric's girlfriend to Melbourne, where we're all piling in serolynne's van, picking up said former roommate from the airport, and all five driving down to Key West in the van. Plan is to leave Friday afternoon and return Sunday, so we'll only be there for a couple of days.

You thinking about heading on down thataway?

I'm with you on the collapse-and-die plain; been there for four days now.

So how is it? Is death really overrated? :)
Oct. 15th, 2004 09:35 am (UTC)
It's underrated, actually. =P

Onyx and I were discussing the other day how we're too lazy to die...

Well, death is one of those few things that can be done as easily as lying down, I'm told.

Still, all other things being equal, i think I'll pass. It's been done too many times already. :)

See, darling, this is why I love you; you say fuck to standards - even death - and take it to the next level. *UNF!*

Speaking of the Necronomicon, I think this year I will be "Ash" from "The Army of Darkness" for Halloween.
