Call to the Lazyweb

So I want to start selling posters of the Map of Human Sexuality wholesale to sex toy stores and places like that, and I'm trying to get a feel for places that might be interested in carrying it. dayo suggested approaching the The Museum of Sex in NYC (and how cool is it that there IS a museum of sex?). I was thinking of cool, indie placesike Blowfish.

So, any ideas out there in LJ-land? Thoughts? Suggestions?

I second the Museum of Sex thing. It´s an awesome place and your map would fit right in with their other merchandise (except no one´s done a thing like that, really).

You might try Come As You Are in Toronto and Venus Envy in Ottawa. Both have really good reputations and good people working for them.

You want to look into http://www.eroticheritagemuseum.com/
which is in Vegas.
I didn't know it existed last time I was in Vegas or I would have gone.

Ann Arbor's hipster Safe Sex Store (has a brick-n-mortar store as well as their online shop)

This is one of the largest adult stores in Florida, and our favorite. They have a huge selection of everything, including kink gear and it's really upscale...in atmosphere, not price.

Good Vibrations in the US, possibly also Stockroom and Mr. S. Lovehoney in the UK (I can give you a contact there if you want).

http://www.a-womans-touch.com/?gclid=CPyymYWKj5kCFQ4MDQodJGrVZw (sorry i dunno how to do your fancy links) This is A Woman's Touch in madison, the woman-centric toy store, they might be interested!

I think that a better idea would be finding the poster stores/head shops in college towns. There's a few down town in Madison, one called "Poster Master Ltd", or "Knuckleheads" http://www.knuckleheadstobacco.com/

College kids love things like this!

Good luck!

along the lines of stores with posters in college towns, why not http://www.newburycomics.com? They have about 20 stores in New England.

Re: Cons.
Ooh! The cons!!! I second this idea! Bring a few to Frolicon and make up some business cards that feature it, along with promoting Onyx! How about a t-shirt to advertise both while at the con?

You might want to check out Smitten Kitten in Minneapolis.

My favorite source for adult playthings is Poster Hut on Cheshire Bridge in Atlanta. They're not your typical sex supply store for the Atlanta area. They've got a lot of great, usable products and reference materials. I bet they would be interested!

Babeland (formerly Toys in Babeland) comes to mind.

Yay! I'm glad my sleepy shower musings are going to good use. Before you ship overseas in bulk let me check some regs for you. You don't want to get dinged with obscenity violations...and what is considerd obscene (by law) varies greatly.

Hustler has a sex toy, gifts and boutique in the French Quarter in NOLA.

I'm sure that the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture in Seattle, and the more play-oriented sister organization the Center for Sex Positive Culture would be a great place to go as well.

The Executive Director is Allena Gabosh.

I'll check with my piercing place. They sell a whole lot of random stuff, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were interested. Their name is Cheap Trx and they are in St. Louis, MO.

I'm sure there is a museum of sex in Amsterdam, too...
