Hey, now, hey, now, now...

Any goth worthy of their black stompy boots is familiar with the Sisters of Mercy song This Corrosion, and indeed has probably spent many a late night dancing to it, optionally while smoking clove cigarettes.

To help all of us better understand this song, which has touched the lives of so many goths, I offer: a flowchart for This Corrosion, the better to comprehend the inner workings of this important contribution to the goth arts.

Can you do a flow chart for "Under the Gun" also?
I would love to see that one.

I'm guessing that Temple of Love would work as a flowchart, too. Nicely done, btw.

The tight poeticism is what I miss from old 80s and 90s songs. I used to love slayer, now I can't really listen to them any more, because it seems absurd and silly. But...reading the lyrics...the poetry is amazing.

Missing a lot of "ooohs" and "hey... hey HEY... HEY!"

Oh, and some "ahhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhh AHHHHHHHHH ahhhhhhhh" too. :)

And "this corroooooooooosionnnnnnn!"

Ah, the DJ's pee-break.

A Markov chain version
A friend linked this, and I felt a need to write a python program to wander randomly around this flowchart (http://canonicalmomentum.tumblr.com/post/139585416077/a-friend-of-mine-linked-this-post-in-which-the). Now to actually listen to the song...

I think you need a self-referential loop attached to "sing," since that word is sometimes repeated.

Love this! Hubby has the extended (ten minutes plus) version on his phone. When we play it in the car, I usually rewind (if that's the word you'd even use now, since there's nothing to physically "wind" anymore) it at least twice before I'm tired of it.
